Man Utd News: Wayne Rooney NOT Handing In Transfer Request

BBC. Last night, Blues boss Jose Mourinho issued the 27-year-old with an ultimatum by giving him 48 hours to decide whether or not to join his side. United have rejected two bids from the London club for Rooney and insist the England international is not for sale, with the forward being reintegrated back into the squad for Monday night's 0-0 draw against Chelsea. However, despite the fact Rooney does not plan on submitting a second transfer request in three years, it is understood there are still a number of unresolved issues relating to his playing time at Old Trafford. Earlier this summer, United manager David Moyes suggested that the Liverpudlian was no longer the club's No.1 striker, with Rooney later saying he was "angry and confused" by this comment, alerting Chelsea to his potential availability. But the former Everton star's refusal to push through a move to Stamford Bridge will leave Mourinho looking for an alternative striker, with the transfer window shutting at 23:00 BST next Monday. Rooney has threatened to quit the club in the past, only to change his mind. In October 2010, he submitted a written transfer request citing his desire to quit was because he had not received "any of the assurances" he was seeking about "the future squad". Within 48 hours, Rooney had retracted his request and penned a new five-year deal, which still has two years left to run.
