According to the Mirror, Manchester United have agreed a fee of £26 million for the signing of Sao Paulo midfielder Lucas Moura.
The 19-year-old Brazilian has been on the radar of United boss Sir Alex Ferguson all summer as the veteran manager looks to rebuild his attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
Moura is currently in England gearing up for the Olympics and his participation in the Brazil squad has seen him join up with Manchester United youngster Rafael, who has been hinting that Old Trafford is the right move for him.
Manchester United have been in search for a new midfielder ever since Paul Scholes decided to retire, and whilst Scholes may have returned to the squad for one last night,United will finally be pleased to know they have a long term replacement.
With funds reportedly tight at the club, the fact United are splashing so much cash on one player suggests that Sir Alex has the full backing of the Glazer family.
With Moura now looking set for Old Trafford, this could suggest that Manchester United are out of the race for Van Persie although the club may continue to pursue the 28-year-old Dutchman, despite Van Persie demanding a high salary.
