Man Utd Transfer News: Chelsea To Make Third Wayne Rooney Bid?

talkSPORT. Manchester United have now rejected two bids from the Blues for the 27-year-old, the most recent of which coming on Sunday, of £25 million plus add-ons, which was dismissed "out of hand". But it appears as though Chelsea aren't willing to give up quite yet, with manager Jose Mourinho making Rooney his last remaining transfer target this summer. The England international wants out of United, having endured a frustrating season at Old Trafford last term. The striker was benched for key games by retired manager Sir Alex Ferguson and also did not play the last two Premier League games of the season as Ferguson bade farewell. Rooney is believed to be keen on working with Mourinho and while he has no issues with new boss David Moyes, still feels Ferguson has plenty of influence at Old Trafford and has made his mind up about leaving. He has withdrawn from United's pre-season friendly against AIK Stockholm tomorrow night due to a shoulder injury he picked up in a behind-closed-doors game against La Liga outfit Real Betis at the weekend. It is unclear if Roney will feature in Rio Ferdinand's testimonial on Friday or in the Red Devil's season curtain-raiser against Wigan in the Community Shield on Sunday.
