Man Utd Transfer News: Wayne Rooney STAYING At Old Trafford?

Express. Moyes and the club's new chief executive Ed Woodward, who is taking over that position from David Gill, are understood to have held "clear the air talks" with Rooney and his representative Paul Stretford, and have accepted that the England international did not ask for a transfer request in a meeting with former manager Sir Alex Ferguson in April. The Premier League champions have always maintained that the striker is not for sale, despite interest from domestic rivals Arsenal and Chelsea. However, Rooney is keen for them to make it known to supporters that he did not put in a second transfer request in three years, as had been reported, so that he may avoid a backlash from fans next season. The 27-year-old was booed by a section of the Old Trafford terraces as he collected his winner's medal after the club's final home game of the season and was also jeered during the club's open top bus parade through Manchester the next week. However, Moyes is expected to express to fans later today that Rooney is not the "bad guy" and that he will, with two years remaining on his current deal, be staying at United next season.
