According to the Mirror, Manchester United are reportedly preparing a transfer bid for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye.
Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson has already completed the signings of Robin van Persie, Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell this summer, however Fergie still reportedly believes he needs a box-to-box midfielder.
Speaking after Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Spurs yesterday, The Magpies boss Alan Pardew said:
“We are on our guard in case some really big bid comes in and we need to react because if someone goes out, another player will come in. But success for me in this transfer window would be losing none of our stars.”
The Toon boss will have a difficult task on his hands trying to retain the Frenchman at the club as Manchester United can offer Cabaye bigger wages as well as Champions League football.
Manchester United are lacking in the midfield department and Cabaye is precisely the kind of player the club needs. The Red Devils have also been linked with Wesley Sneidjer this week, a player who was rumoured to join the club last season.
It seems if Manchester United want to increase their depth in midfield they will have to offer around £12-15 million, something for Cabaye, which Sir Alex Ferguson may not be prepared to do.

This would be the best possible buy for UTD. One of the best midfielders in the premiership last season. To be honest there’s a good few players I would welcome from Newcastle. But the first would be Cabaye or Tiote.
IT WILL BE SIKK SIGHNING PEOPLE TELLING USE PEOPLE GET VELENCIA OUT CABYE IN
you are infact an idiot…valencia out!?!? you pleb
sir alex shud pls go for synieder so as for him to help RCP deliever effectively you know they both play for neitland and they understand each other while playing for their country…….synieder will be a good replacement for ageing paul schooles
Cabaye would be the best signing of the transfer window so far for UTD. We already have cover for Van persie and Shinji Kagawa with the likes of Rooney, Welbeck, Chicharito, Young, Nani and Valencia but a top quality centre midfielder is what we really need to replace the ageing midfield of Scholes, Carrick and Fletcher. Anderson looks a good prospect when on form but it easily injured and can be susceptible to a few off games. Cabaye would be PERFECT! Hes a tough tackling midfielder but he can also play football being one of the better passing, finishing and creating midfielders in the premiership. He would be an absolute steal for united at 15m and could possibly be the united captain in years to come in what could be a 10 year united spell? comments …….
We still have to buy a holden midfieled so that our team will be more strong in every position,i love to see the team wining like three trophy this season good luck united for life.
Its nyce having the like of buttner nd van persie @ manutd hweva sir shud anything humanly possible 2 bring in active midfielders
good luck if you think you can get him for 12 – 15m, ashley sold carroll for £35m you think hed really sell cabaye for mere pocket money…
