Man Utd Transfers: 6 Signings Fergie Must Push Through This Summer

5. Leighton Baines

Club: Everton Everton's England left-back has been linked to United for a while now, with the latest links coming from The Express, who say he has been lined up as the eventual successor to Patrice Evra at Old Trafford. The 28-year-old would be an excellent replacement for Evra, bringing defensive steel along with attacking prowess and crucially the skills to put balls into the box, and into the back of the net from set-pieces. Baines spoke to the Express to say he knows he has more to give:
"There€™s not one person out there who doesn€™t have something to improve on. I am as conscious of my weaknesses, as anyone is, because I live with them. I know what they are and I am always working on them and trying to do things to make sure they don€™t get exposed.€
It is that sort of attitude that will make him a fans' favourite option at United, but even though he sees himself as the unfinished article, his Premier League experience, plus his ability should mark him as one of the best available options for Sir Alex to strengthen at full-back.
