Newcastle Midfielder Reveals On Twitter That He Has Signed For Lyon

Olivier Kemen will be playing for the French side this season.

Olivier Kemen has completed his transfer to Ligue 1 outfit Olympique Lyonnais. The midfielder announced the transfer via his own Twitter account late on Monday night and expressed his delight at signing for the club. Last week, French paper L'Equipe announced that AS Monaco had made a £500,000 offer for Kemen sparking rumours that the player would leave before the end of the transfer window. The 19-year-old completed his medical on Monday night and wrote on his Twitter account: He said:
"Officially a Lyon player. Really happy to sign this great club.€
Newcastle United are yet to confirm the transfer and the fee is yet to be revealed. Kemen - who has performed well in 26 appearances for the Magpies€™ Under-21 side, scoring three times - also went to Greece to captain France in the UEFA Under-19 Championship, where he impressed. The midfielder arrived on Tyneside from Metz two years ago and he has failed to break into the first-team picture to date and asked John Carver for a loan move in January but was denied and is becoming frustrated with life on Tyneside.
