Newcastle Transfer News: £10 Million Yohan Cabaye Bid Rejected

Daily Mail. Earlier this afternoon, we reported that the Gunners had made an opening offer for the 27-year-old, which has since been knocked back. The France international joined the Magpies from Lille in 2011 and has scored 10 goals in 60 league appearances for the North East outfit, form which has caught the attention of Gunners manager Arsene Wenger. Wenger is under increasing pressure to make a big signing this summer after his club were booed off the pitch following their home defeat to Aston Villa on the opening day of the Premier League and failure to bring in new recruits in the transfer window. The rejection of the opening bid will come as a blow to Wenger but will be welcomed by Toon fans, who have seen a number of their players threaten to leave in recent times. One of the club's joint-top goalscorers last season, Demba Ba, left for Chelsea in January while the other, Papiss Cisse, was embroiled in a dispute with sponsor's Wonga that almost saw him quit. Magpie's captain Fabricio Coloccini has also threatened to walk out in recent times.
