Newcastle Transfer News: Coloccini Wants To Exit Shock

Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini drops bombshell on Magpies.

The Independent. The player's representatives flew to Tyneside for a meeting with club officials to inform them the Argentinian defender no longer wished to stay with the club, despite the fact he signed a new four-year deal only last year. The news will come as a hammer blow to Magpies boss Pardew as his side edge closer and closer toward the relegation zone - the club have only won twice in their last 16 games and are just two points clear of 18th placed Wigan. Colocinni has become one of Newcastle's more dependable player's in recent times. He is currently the highest earner at the club on around £3 million-per-year and has started every one of his club's games since late November and made the Premier League team of the season last year. But the player has spoken of the personal turmoil inflicting him in the past, stating that he and his family have been unable to settle in England which could be a reason for his request to leave - in all probability back to his native Argentina and San Lorenzo. NUFC.com have quoted the player as having spoken of his personal situation in the past:

"I came (to England) with my wife and my children. It was difficult for me but more difficult for my wife. She was at home, she didn't have friends. She is one of the people who made a lot of things for me and sometimes I think, when I play well or I give 100 per cent on the pitch, it is because I am well at home."
Now his club face the dilemma of holding their captain to his contract and forcing him to see out his remaining four years at St James' Park whilst having an unhappy player on the books, or allow him to leave and become the second major star to do so in as many weeks. Having already lost their most potent attacking threat in Demba Ba, to now lose their biggest defensive anchor could well be terminal for the Magpies' survival hopes. Signed for around £10million (according to NUFC.com) from Deportivo La Coruña in 2008, Colocinni has made 173 appearances for Newcastle. What do you think of this story Newcastle fans?
