Newcastle Transfer News: Fabricio Coloccini STAYS Until End Of The Season

Mirror. The Argentinian centre-back dropped the bombshell that he wanted to leave earlier in the month, citing "personal reasons" with a move back to former club San Lorenzo his preferred destination. But just this week San Lorenzo, where the player's dad Osvaldo works, admitted defeat in trying to land the defender due to their inability to pay his wages and conjure up an acceptable transfer fee. We reported yesterday that Coloccini is now prepared to force his way out by refusing to play another game, starting with the vital relegation scrap with Aston Villa next week. But it is understood that were he refuse to play, his £60,000-per-week wages would be stopped and legal action sought. It seems now that the only way Coloccini can leave Newcastle this month is if he buys out his own contract for £7 million, and whilst the club do sympathise with his personal troubles, they are simply unprepared to let a player who only last Match signed a new four-year deal go, and with the club's fans anxiously waiting to see if the player will indeed play for them again, Newcastle will be hoping for a resolution to this dilemma within the next 48 hours.
