Newcastle Transfers: Magpies Make Spectacular Double Bid For Lacazette And Grenier

Newcastle's French revolution could continue after double bid for Ligue 1 pair.

Newcastle United have made approaches for Lyon attacking pair Alexandre Lacazette and Clement Grenier, according to reports in French newspaper L'Equipe. The Magpies are looking to boost their attacking options this summer and have approached Lyon over the possibility of taking both players away from the Stade Gerland, with both players established as transfer targets for Alan Pardew's side for most of the summer. However, it appears that 23-year-old striker Lacazette is not prepared to make the move to the North East because he would like to play for a team in the Champions League. Last season Lacazette bagged 23 goals in 46 total appearances for his club, though he could only help to fire his side to the qualifying rounds of the Europa League as they finished in 5th place in Ligue 1. Lacazette is in discussions with his current club over a new three-year contract to stay in France, though it is thought that Lyon are more open to selling midfielder Grenier, who has also been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer. Newcastle have already signed six first team players this summer, including two more Ligue 1 players in the shape of Montpellier's Remy Cabella and Monaco's Emmanuel Riviere.
