Newcastle Transfers: Michy Batshuayi In £15 Million Move Talks?

Steve McClaren open talks with the in-form Marseille forward.

Newcastle will make a £15 million+ move for in-form Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi in the January transfer window, reports The Sun. Talks are said to already been underway with the French club over bringing the 22-year-old Belgium international to St. James' Park. Batshuayi has enjoyed a wonderful season in Ligue 1 with 11 goals in 18 starts. Joining from Standard Leige just 18 months ago, the forward has an impressive tally of averaging a goal in every other game. It's a run of form that has convinced Geordie boss Steve McClaren that he's the man Newcastle should spend big on to get the goals that would avoid relegation. With that lethal combination of pace, strength and composure in front of goal, Batshuayi has overshadowed Marseille star man and former Newcastle target Alexandre Lacazette in the goals department and is getting all the attention from European clubs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHOs6mSx85Y With Newcastle in the bottom three at the turn of the New Year, The Sun reports that owner Mike Ashley is willing to spend big to keep his side in the division. Marseille did insist that Batshuayi was "unsellable" when clubs were linked with him in the summer but after a disappointing Ligue 1 campaign where they sit mid-table and likely won't make Champions League, the right price could see Batshuayi be sold.
