Newcastle Transfers: Seydou Doumbia Currently Having Medical

Roma striker will join on loan.

Great news for all fans of FIFA: Newcastle look set to bring an absolute beast to the Premier League. Sky Sports News HQ have just confirmed earlier reports from Foot Mercato that after successful talks, Roma striker Seydou Doumbia is currently having a medical at St James Park ahead of a loan move until the end of the current season. FM say that deal will come with an option to buy in the summer. The Ivory Coast forward previously scored 63 goals in 83 league games for CSKA Moscow before AS Roma bought him just last January. The 28-year-old only scored 2 goals in 13 appearances before being loaned back to the Russian side (where he scored 11 goals in 17), but Newcastle have obviously seen enough to bring him in to bolster their misfiring frontline. According to the Daily Express, Arsenal had also made a late enquiry to sign Doumbia, but it now looks like he's on his way to play in black and white. Newcastle fans will be hoping he has a similar impact to fellow January signing Papiss Cisse, who went on an unbelievable run when he signed in 2012 to fire the Magpies into 5th place. Objectives this season might be more modest - relegation survival is all anyone can hope for - but after a successful, and surprisingly rich January, there can be cause for excitement again. Let's just hope the team pulls itself together and the new signings gel in time. Though a mooted move for Saido Berahino is yet to produce results, Sky Sports News HQ say Newcastle are still in the market for another striker and a left-back even if the deal for Doumbia goes through.
