Newcastle United Reveal New Away Kit for 2012/13

Newcastle United's new away kit is a Richard Branson approved, Virgin Money friendly red.

Newcastle United's new away kit is a Richard Branson approved, Virgin Money friendly, red. Or "burgundy" as the official website put it. The shirt will launch on May 10th and is available for pre-order right now on Newcastle United's official club shop. We are hearing that Newcastle are likely to wear the kit on the last day of the season when The Magpies make the trip to Goodison Park to play Everton on Sunday May 13th, in what could be a hugely important encounter for Champions League qualification. It's kind of weird to think that Newcastle United will be wearing Red next season, usually a colour avoided by The Magpies because of their local rivals Sunderland, whom similarly usually avoid black. However the influence of Richard Branson has certainly played into the choice of colour for next season as his Virgin Money, who took over a deal from Northern Rock to sponsor the shirts of Newcastle United for the next few seasons, most likely played a part in this. Meanwhile here's the new away goalie shirt; Newcastle United fans, how do you feel about wearing red next season?
