NFL Draft: Top 10 Steals

2013-nfl-draft-042313 This past draft was a wild one. Many teams seemed to pick up the right player that fits their scheme perfectly and also filled a position of need. We won't know for sure which teams had the best draft until about three years from now, but you can tell which teams had steals by judging the value of the player. Some teams reached for prospects that left many of us scratching our heads. There were a lot players that should of went in the first or second round, but actually fell to the mid rounds. That's where teams need to jump up immediately and grab that specific player since it offers great value. There are many teams that did just that and had a great draft and will look back on this draft and be happy with the outcome. So let's see who the top 10 biggest steal were in the 2013 NFL Draft...

10. RB Eddie Lacy and Jonathon Franklin, Green Bay Packers

Round 2, Pick 61 and Round 4, Pick 125 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyXbAmTk4uI Even though the running back position isn't what it used to be in the NFL, Eddie Lacy still had first round talent written all over him. Watching Lacy run all over Georgia and Notre Dame's defenses shows what kind of running back Lacy will be in the NFL. He shows the acceleration and power you like to see from your running back. One tackler is not bringing Lacy down. He shows the break away potential by still chopping his feet after the first initial contact. If the Packers can create a solid running game then they don't have to rely on Aaron Rodgers to throw 50 times a game. This will open up the passing attack with Rodgers and company which doesn't sound good to opposing defenses. Lacy will be a nice fit to that already explosive offense. Jonathon Franklin is a shifty running back out of UCLA that will contribute to the Packers offense as well. Franklin doesn't have unbelievable speed, however he'll make his living by being a one cut back at the next level. His feet are rare and that's what scouts love about his game. He shows the lateral quickness that will make him succeed in the NFL. Franklin and Lacy are two pretty different backs as Lacy is more north and south whereas Franklin is quick and agile. Franklin is also great catching out of the backfield which Rodgers will enjoy. This will give the Packers a nice one two punch at the running back position.
