Should Newcastle Sell Fabricio Coloccini? Toon Fans Have Given Their Verdict...

The Toon faithful have spoken...

It seems that Newcastle United supporters are beginning to get used to the idea of Fabricio Coloccini no longer being at the heart of their defence or their club's skipper going forward. In a WhatCulture.com/NUFC poll asking Magpies supporters whether or not the club should sell their captain this summer, a majority (57%) voted for Steve McClaren to allow his skipper to leave. Coloccini has been linked with a reunion with former Newcastle boss Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace, as well as with a move to Greek side Olympiacos, in recent weeks - and he has yet to play a single minute of the Magpies' seven pre-season matches.

Nursing a slight Achilles problem, Coloccini is heading into the Premier League season without having played at all - which cannot be good. Although far from an overwhelming majority of Toon fans, 57% (641 votes) out of 1,118 respondents to the poll wanting the Magpies to sell the 33-year-old is a fairly sizeable proportion. The 43% (447 votes) of fans who want Coloccini to stay are in the minority. So will Pardew get his wish to be reunited with his former skipper after all?
