Sports Personality Of The Year 2013: Ranking The Big Contenders

Mo Farah The shortlist for Sports Personality of the Year 2013 has been announced and after another superb year of sport, we're left spoilt for choice yet again. There are no real surprise inclusions, but athletes such as Carl Froch, Laura Robson and Gareth Bale have missed the cut for the accolade, which will be announced at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on December 15th. As usual, we have seen plenty of sporting successes this year, and despite the threat of being in the shadow of the ultimate sport year of 2012, 2013 impressed with Tour De France, Tennis grand slams, Golf majors and Rugby and Cricket series wins. There is not a single footballer on the list (again) and is filled with athletes from no less than eight sports, showing our versatility as a nation. So we have examined the ten athletes named on the shortlist and ranked them in order of where we think they will place for this year's award, kicking it off with one of London 2012's successes. Who do you think will win the award? Have they missed anyone out? Let us know by commenting at the bottom of the page.
