Team News

The Black cats will be without top scorer Steven Fletcher after the striker ruptured his ankle ligaments on international duty with Scotland, with the injury sidelining Fletcher for the remainder of the season. Carlos Cuellar will also miss out due to an ankle injury, but Stephane Sessegnon is expected to return after recent injury problems. Black Cats skipper Lee Cattermole is also out for the rest of the season according to the Shields Gazette, with Martin O'Neill admitting that the former Wigan man's stuttering career and recurring injuries are a concern.
€œI€™ve not had the chance to check his whole record here. But just during my time here, he€™s missed really big chunks of the season for either suspension or injury. €œHe€™ll be hoping now that this might be his last bit of bad luck. Hopefully he can get a proper pre-season and be ready for next season.€
