10 Greatest Prison Break Characters - Ranked

9. General Jonathan Krantz

Michael Scofield Prison Break Tattoo
Fox

Seasons: 2, 3, 4, The Final Break

The big bad of The Company, Krantz is just remorselessly badass in every sense of the word. The way in which his character is introduced from the outset is pitch perfect: his only method of communication is to scribble down notes and orders for William Kim to carry out, and therefore avoid being detected and spied upon by government authorities or anyone else for that matter. It resulted in Krantz being given the nickname of "Pad Man" by fans of the show. Moreover, this drip-fed intro had the desired effect in keeping the audience hooked by guessing as to who exactly was this mysterious, clearly powerful man?

Naturally, that mystique had to be broken when Krantz took on all threats to The Company and the attempts by Michael and Co. to retrieve its monumental Scylla data files head on during season four (bit like Thanos going after the Infinity Stones by himself after his subordinates have failed).

Eventually, we see Krantz descend from a man in absolute power to someone who becomes obsessively paranoid and increasingly desperate as his empire burns. Krantz gets his comeuppance via the electric chair, his final words as resolute as the man himself: Semper Paratus (always ready).

The name's Colbourn, James - yeah, doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
