10 Nostalgic British Children's TV Classics

4. The Flumps

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGwn4KJ0kuQ Made in 1976, the maker of The Flumps - Julie Holder - only made 13 episodes in total, but they were repeated for years and years on the BBC - picking up a lot of fans and becoming a cult television series. The titular characters in the series were the Flumps - little round stop motion balls. Gay Soper was the narrator and he fabulously bought the Flumps to life. The Flumps consist of mother and father Flumps and their children Perkin, Pootle and Posie. Their grandfather liked to play his flumpet and read the newspaper. Each episode contains a story from mother Flump's big book. Much loved children's series, could you even imagine a show like this produced nowadays? Utterly charming and great fun too.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
