10 Star Trek Characters Who Didn't Deserve Their Fate

Star Trek did these particular characters dirty, no matter how emotional their endings were.

Sometimes a good death scene can be the highlight of an actor's showreel, as it can give them so much range to display to a potential casting director. Sadly, not all of the entries on this list can boast that particular benefit, as some of these entries are utter flops for the characters they serve.

Some are brought back simply to meet a body count. Some don't get anything to do other than stand there and grimmace in pain. Still others probably shouldn't have tried to walk around the angry oil-person, but hey, it's the final frontier, what are you going to do?

Fate is a funny thing in film and television, with it so often being decided with moments to spare. Which of these characters' fates do you feel was the least deserved or most egregious? Let us know via our socials and let's get to it!

10. Trip Tucker

Is there anyone out there who was satisfied with Charles 'Trip' Tucker's fate in These Are The Voyages? If there is, then we send our genuine respect to you. Never yuck another person's yum, as some wise people have been known to say!

If Trip was to meet his maker, no matter the ending that Star Trek: Enterprise received, then perhaps it is safest to say that surely he deserved a stronger exit than the one he received. While it certainly was heroic, saving both Archer and the ship itself, it all felt so rushed and so forced. Added to this was the knowledge that the show had been cancelled, so it was clearly added for shock value.

The extended universe of novels sees Trip faking his death and working with Section 31. While that's vaguely satisfying on some levels - mainly that it means he's alive - it is born from a position of necessity. Then again, the inclusion of the refit NX-01 in Star Trek: Picard may suggest an 'elseworlds' tint to Trip's exit, and both Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks are certainly in a position to retcon the exit.

Help us, streaming era Trek, you're our only hope!
