5 Reasons Why The IT Crowd Is Better Than The Big Bang Theory

IT We all know how the Big Bang Theory has became a huge cultural phenomenon since it first aired back 2007. For us Britons though, our first true Nerd sitcom was The IT Crowd, which first aired on Channel 4 in 2006. This show followed the exploits of two IT technicians called Roy and Moss and their new boss Jen, a woman who really doesn't know anything about computers. They work in the basement of Reynholm Industries, a large corporation where no-one really knows what they do. The show itself summed up really well what it meant to be a computer nerd. Here we count down 5 reasons why this show is better than its close equivalent in the US, The Big Bang Theory

5. Less Main Characters

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obhfHhzAoqE The one thing The Big Bang theory suffers from is a large number of main characters. Okay, this gives us more people to laugh at- but at times it can be distracting. We have to try and keep up with their ever changing lives in each episode. The IT Crowd however, only focuses on Roy, Moss and Jen, allowing us to build up a relationship with them throughout the series. We can instantly recognize that Jen is hopeless at her job, Moss has no clue about anything outside his specialty and Roy just downright hates his line of work and the idiots he has to help. This is a case of less-is-more and it really maximises the appeal.
