8 People Who Tried To Sue The Simpsons

1. Fox News

In an unprecedented move, Fox News threatened to sue The Simpsons - which is broadcast on Fox Entertainment and made by 20th Century Fox - in 2003 after a Fox News-style rolling news ticker featured on one Simpsons episode parodied the Right-leaning angle of Fox News's stories. One particular headline read: "Study: 92 per cent of Democrats are gay". While a Fox News spokesperson denied the claim that they ever planned to file a lawsuit, Groening was noted to have said: "Fox said they would sue the show and we called their bluff because we didn't think Rupert Murdoch would pay for Fox to sue itself. We got away with it." It's not the first time The Simpsons has parodied Murdoch; in the episode Sunday, Cruddy Sunday, Rupert Murdoch introduces himself to Homer Simpson as: "Rupert Murdoch, billionaire tyrant". Amazingly, they got Murdoch to do the voice work himself, confirming what we all long suspected: that Rupert Murdoch is a supremely wealthy megalomaniac, and loving it. Should The Simpsons have lost any of these cases? Know of any other legal troubles they've had? Share them down in the comments.
