The two-part Pilot of DC's Legends of Tomorrow is out the way, although episode 3 - Blood Ties - still feels at times like a continuation of that. The majority of the setup is out of the way, meaning the show is free to sink its teeth into the main storyline without lots of exposition, but there are times when it's evident that it's still finding its feet. There's nothing wrong with that, it is only three episodes in after all, and hopefully people will continue to give this show a chance, because a lot of it is really fun. Once again the standouts of the episode are Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold and Caity Lotz's Sara Lance. They were apart for most of Blood Ties, but in both of their arcs they were clearly the best thing in it, and really help elevate the show with acting that perfectly captures the tone and spirit of it. Rip Hunter was a lot more hands-on this week, and thankfully that meant pairing him with Sara, a wise move which gave us some great moments. Cold, meanwhile, proved again that he can completely chew scenery while providing the emotional beats as well. The scene between Ray Palmer and Professor Stein wasn't quite as compelling, but there were some cool visuals with Atom travelling through Kendra's body, while even Vandal Savage wasn't completely terrible in the episode. All told it was another solid outing, and there's plenty to build-on - and pore over - going forwards.
