Doctor Who: 10 Things That Need To Happen Before We See A Female Doctor

10. Talk About It More In-Show As A Genuine Possibility

Doctor Who Doctor And Idris Doctor Who prides itself on the "anything can happen" atmosphere, but really, isn't it all a bit safe and formulaic? Credit to Moffat for introducing a whole new Doctor we'd never noticed and creating far scarier adversaries than Russell T Davies, but does anyone believe that the Doctor could be a woman, when no one has the balls to destroy the Daleks for longer than a series? The recent 'The Night of the Doctor' minisode again hinted at the possibility of a Time Lord choosing to switch gender, but before that, only 'The Doctor's Wife' made an allusion to it. If the BBC are serious about this, wouldn't it be a bit disrespectful to spring it as a plot-twist? The only way that we're going to start believing in a female Doctor is if it's actually talked about. We need some hint drops, like the two we've had already. Maybe the Doctor hinting a few times that anything can happen after body thirteen. Maybe him stating there's more of a precedent than we think. Maybe if we saw a female Master, we'd believe it a bit more...
