Doctor Who: 10 Characters From Other TV Shows Who Would Make Terrible Companions

3. Ted Mosby €“ How I Met Your Mother

ted You€™d really have to pity the Doctor if he was travelling with Ted. Not that Ted is a bad person; he seems quite a nice guy: he€™s good to his friends, he holds a respectable job and all he wants is a loving family unit. He€™d be a great fit, right? Wrong. All he seems to do is tell lengthy stories. Now, I don€™t hate Ted, I€™m one of those captivated by the hilarious show that is How I Met Your Mother. However, it€™s been eight series now and he€™s only getting close to meeting this elusive €˜mother€™. His poor kids have been sat, painfully waiting for the end of the story, the end of the references to the past and to their father€™s sex life. They€™d surely appreciate a TARDIS appearing and taking him away. But the Doctor and the audience certainly wouldn€™t. Imagine whole episodes and series of our beloved sci-fi show, devoted to the annoying, whiney stories of Ted. As soon as he was seated comfortably in the TARDIS, his stories would begin. Aliens worlds would surely come and go out of existence and Ted€™s tales would go on. The only silver lining would be that once travelling with the Doctor, his tales would get a little more interesting. No more would he sit his kids down and moan about the lack of sex he once had. Instead, he€™d talk of monsters, moons and mad men. If he managed to get out of the TARDIS, that is. Ted€™s one of those characters who needs his friends to have fun. The Doctor would have to act as a Barney substitute, pushing Ted towards interesting and daring activities, otherwise he€™d just spend his days clinging to the TARDIS, unsure of whether he wanted to go out, save the world and enjoy himself or not.
