Doctor Who: 10 Huge Mistakes Made By Characters In The Show

Across 50 years of storytelling, companions, villains and the Doctor have stumbled along the way...

As much as Doctor Who is about heroes defeating villains, it is also about the mistakes characters make along the way. The Doctor dealing with the fallout of those failings creates as much drama as any great alien invasion could. The titular hero himself has made many mistakes; it is the driving motto behind the latest series 8 trailer. Despite all the good he has done he has also stumbled at times and now is the time to rectify that. Travelling through space and time for centuries, you're sure to witness some colossal mistakes along the way, some of which you'll cause yourself. In the fifty years of storytelling that Doctor Who has brought us, we've witnessed some pretty spectacular ones. Heroes who try to do the right thing but make the situation worse. Villains attempting to control a force greater than themselves and failing spectacularly. Choices and actions taken that have dire consequences, more far reaching than they could ever have imagined. Here at WhatCulture, we're going to pick out ten of the biggest mistakes made over the course of those five decades, starting with the early days of the First Doctor and leading up to the Eleventh incarnation that left our screens last Christmas. From insane attempts to control the Doctor's deadliest enemies to the destruction of Earth itself, the Doctor has had to clean up a lot of messes, some of them his own. So click 'NEXT' as we head all the way back to 1964 and the very first series of Doctor Who...
