Doctor Who: 10 Music Icons That The Doctor Needs To Meet

3. Metallica

One of the heaviest bands known to mankind, fuelling the rock and metal 'nation' with a sound so raw and empowering it would even a Daleks' spine shiver. They are also one of the most complex bands too, relationship wise, with such an unforgettable history. And maybe the Doctor has something to do with that? For example, the band have had tragedies and feuds in their long history like Cliff Burton's death and Dave Mustaine being kicked out of the band in 1982. So maybe the Doctor wanted to go out and search for the reason behind Burton's untimely death in 1986... possibly the sign of an alien threat? And perhaps the Doctor himself recommended the rehab facility for frontman James Hetfield during the filming of their 2003 documentary 'Some Kind Of Monster'? The reason that Metallica would influence the Doctor is by showing him that letting his anger out through an art form could perhaps relieve him from the strain he has endured throughout his life, whilst unburdening him from the demons that he continues to carry around with him throughout his travels.
