Family Guy: 10 Best Stewie Episodes

10. From Method To Madness

Stewie always works best when he has a comedic foil or straight man (or woman) opposite him. Most of the time, it's Brian, but there have a number of occasions where another pairing is thrown together for an episode. From Method To Madness in Family Guy's third season was one of those, pairing Stewie up with Olivia (who would return later in the series in a follow-up episode), a child acting prodigy. Stewie and Olivia cross paths when Stewie encourages Brian to join up with the local theatre, but in the end it's not Brian hit by the acting bug, it's Stewie, who winds up enrolled in the Quahog School of the Performing Arts. Olivia happens to be his antagonist early on, but upon learning they're both in danger of being cut from the program, they team up, and become a hit as a duet. Soon they're performing their hit You Do all over town, and Olivia is frequently overshadowing Stewie. She accuses him of not being able to hit a note, and as she branches out, goes solo, and leaves town for greater things, Stewie withdraws inward, obsessed with his fleeting fame. It's a great Stewie episode thanks to the pairing of Stewie and Oliva, which turns out to be a breath of fresh air, and because it shows Stewie at his most vulnerable.
