The Flash: 5 Reasons Why The Pilot Promises Great Things

So far so good!

After many months of anticipation, a huge DC Comic-Con panel, and one very unfortunate leak, the first episode of The Flash aired on Tuesday night. The second of the new comic-based shows to premiere this fall, the CW series will follow the story of Barry Allen, a young forensic investigator who acquires super speed after being struck by lightning following the meltdown of a particle accelerator in the fictional Central City. The pilot served as the early stages of an origin story, introducing and aiming to sell to audiences the concept of the fastest man alive. It€™s a tall order for any new show, and even the current mainstream mania for superheroes is not enough to guarantee future fans if the introduction falls short. Even the already low bar traditionally held for pilots can only be lowered so far. Fortunately, The Flash premiere was just about as fantastic a pilot as could be hoped. It was an exciting hour of television, with performances and premises certainly strong enough to bring viewers back for a second installment. Even more importantly, the pilot was successful both as an hour of television as well as a teaser of what viewers can expect of the series as a whole. So, here are the five biggest reasons why the pilot of The Flash promises great things.
