Game Of Thrones: 10 Alternative Actors Who Should Have Been Cast

Robert Baratheon - Ian McShane vs. Mark Addy

ianWhere have I seen him?: Deadwood, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides The Drunk King met an untimely end in Season 1 'You Win or You Die', signalling the end of peace in Westeros and starting The War of the Five Kings. The death of King Robert brought on a downward spiral for the Stark family and in particular Ned Stark. Originally played by actor Mark Addy, he swapped his butcher's apron from Sky 1's 'Trollied' for The Iron Throne, whilst wearing decidedly more clothes than he did when appearing in 'The Full Monty'; but how about Ian McShane in the role as Robert Barathreon. Blackburn born McShane studied at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art until appearing in his first film in 1962. From there he went on to appear in the likes of 'Dallas' and The BBC's 'Lovejoy.' McShane also was an MC on Grace Jones' 'Slave to the rhythm,' but it is for his more recent roles he is most famously remembered, playing historical figure Al Swearengen in 'Deadwood.' I am sure he could teach us the perils of boar hunting whilst drunk. rob
