Game Of Thrones: 10 Outrageous Book Moments That Won't Be Used

Rape, zombies, and someone having their face eaten.

Ned's beheading. Blackwater. Red Wedding. The Mountain vs The Viper. Sansa's rape. Erm, too late for a spoiler alert?! They're just five hugely outrageous moments from the first five seasons of Game of Thrones, ones that had our eyes-dropping, eyes-popping, and minds-blowing (which is actually a pretty vivid way to describe Oberyn's death as well). While they have created some of these memorable moments purely for the screen (Sansa's wedding night, Shireen's death), and altered others fairly significantly (Robb's pregnant wife at the Red Wedding), the majority do come or are at least inspired by what's on the page. The show stuck fairly close to the books throughout the first couple of seasons, but David Benioff and Dan Weiss have gradually made more and more changes the longer it's gone on. It's now at the point where they'll probably arrive at the same destination, but the journeys are going to be rather different. As such, we're going to enjoy a lot more scenes destined to make us scream and cry with some twisted combination of shock and delight, but book readers are going to miss out on some great moments and plotlines being brought to life as well.
