Game Of Thrones: 15 Best Ever Episodes

Rankings Thrones' finest on a scale of perfection to slightly more perfection.

Game of Thrones is unquestionably one of the most breathtaking TV series' of all time, set in a world dripping with detail and showcasing some deliciously intense political scenes, combined with all-out action sequences that wouldn't look out of place on a cinema screen. Its 10 episode per season format is ideal for ensuring that every single scene is inch-perfect. The slower, deep scenes of dialogue boil the story up to frantic climaxes and it all comes together to create an immense series, making it almost an impossible task to accurately rate individual episodes. Everyone will have their own opinions over where they rank each episode, but even if you prefer the more understated sections of the series, it's hard not to be blown away by some of the high-octane events, particularly from each season's famous Episode 9 which has tended to provide the jaw-dropper for each run of the show. In reality, there isn't a bad episode of the show. Yes, there've been times when the story hasn't moved along quickly enough to begin with, mostly at the start of the seasons. And no, the creators don't always get creative decisions spot on, but that's hardly a criticism, that's just what happens in TV production. One fan's favourite scene, could be another fan's most disappointing. So here goes, the impossible task of rating the top 15 episodes of Game of Thrones.

Honourable Mention - The Lion And The Rose (S4 E2)

It says a lot about the series as a whole that the episode containing Joffrey's sweet, sweet demise doesn't quite crack the top 15. However, when it comes to individual scenes, the psychotic young King's death was one of the most twistedly satisfying moments in the show. After enduring Joffrey's ways for three whole seasons while everybody's favourite characters slowly get wiped out one by one, it was joyous (and disturbing) to see him finally receive the hideous death he absolutely brought upon himself. He was so evil his presence is still missed around King's Landing, but nobody was crying when his face nearly blew out of his head.
