The Long Night is almost over.

After over a year away from our screens, in what has been the most painful wait between seasons yet (and still a breeze compared to the time between books five and six), Game of Thrones is finally set to return to our screens on Sunday (or Monday, depending on location).

As the series enters its shortened seventh and penultimate season, the stakes - and the anticipation - are higher than ever. As Game of Thrones gradually draws to a close, so too is the game of thrones almost over: the Great War is upon us, and the petty squabbles and political machinations will - eventually - have to be left aside to deal with the coming storm.

With only seven episodes there's a hell of a lot the show needs to get through in a short space of time, which should mean a faster pace as Thrones rollicks towards its endgame. Season 7 has once again been shrouded in secrecy, which means that there's a lot that remains a mystery.

Thanks to where Season 6 left off, however, as well as the two trailers and some educated guesswork, there is a lot we can predict will happen in the seventh season.
