7. Even More Clockwork Orange
Episode: Dog of Death (S3, E19) & Treehouse of Horror III (S4, E5) We've already seen an awesome Easter Egg with Bart's fiasco with the cupcakes so in order to highlight how much the team clearly love Kubrick's classic dystopian adaptation of Anthony Burgess we thought we would throw you a few more. We don't know if its the iconic gang apparel, the themes of indoctrination or just the fact that it's an awesome movie, but Matt Groening uses his cartoon to make references to the formerly-banned movie on numerous occasions. The Simpsons is renowned for being crammed with movie references and Easter Eggs but it seems like A Clockwork Orange must be one of the most heavily utilised. Here we see poor Santa's Little Helper enduring the same brainwashing routine endured by Alex DeLarge while we see Bart dressing like the iconic adolescent troublemaker.
