The Flash Season 5: 4 Ups & 3 Downs From ‘Time Bomb’
3. Redemption For Cicada
Grace’s descent into darkness may have destroyed every shred of her own humanity, but the silver lining in it was that it awakened the humanity within her uncle Orlin. That’s right, when the original Cicada woke to see an adult version of his beloved niece from the future, he was crushed – not because she came from the future, but because of the future that she came from.
As a guardian, Orlin clearly didn’t want his beloved niece to become the monster that he was and it didn’t take long for us to see that he was willing to do anything to stop it from happening. That desire presented him with an opportunity to atone for all the damage that he was responsible for and, in the process, he even managed to save The Flash from her.
Though it wouldn’t end well for him (we’ll get to that later), it allowed Orlin to achieve a little redemption while also allowing Chris Klein to deliver his best performance all season (a glimpse into what he could have been capable of with stronger material).
