The Handmaid's Tale Season 2: 7 Ups And 1 Down From Smart Power

5. Commander Waterford's Face-off With Luke

The Handmaid's Tale
Hulu

After stepping out of his car in Canada, Commander Waterford finds himself the subject of verbal abuse as a protest takes place in front of the nearby building. The harsh realities are starting to set in for him - his way of life will not be tolerated by the masses elsewhere, and his control over women is seen as abhorrent.

Had it been any other episode, we would've expected Serena to intervene and speak to the crowd on Fred's behalf, but she's broken after the attack last week. Or maybe she just doesn't care anymore.

One of the show's most rewarding moments sees Luke Bankole - June's husband - confront Commander Waterford of his actions. Luke manages to make his way to the front of the protest and holds up a picture of himself with June and daughter Hannah, while hurling expletives at Fred. We've been waiting for this moment for a while now and it certainly didn't disappoint.
