The Haunting Of Hill House Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs
An instant classic Netflix Original.
Netflix's new horror TV series The Haunting of Hill House landed on the streaming platform this past weekend, and if the marketing suggested a fairly conventional genre effort, rest assured that the end product is no such thing.
Brought to the screen by horror wunderkind Mike Flanagan (Gerald's Game), this is one of 2018's most surprisingly excellent TV shows to date, delivering a deeply artful, superbly acted and stylistically intoxicating spin on familiar tropes.
Critics have generally been hailing the show as a major win for Netflix, and in addition to bolstering the platform as a warm home for meticulously-crafted genre entertainment, it raises the stock of pretty much everyone involved with it.
With its exceptional melding of family drama and expertly-executed genre thrills, The Haunting of Hill House shouldn't be missed whether you're a card-carrying genre fan or not.
Granted, this has probably been the streaming giant's busiest month on record for its Originals label, but you should definitely put 10 hours aside to soak in this deliberate, brilliantly-wrought limited series...
