THE INBETWEENERS US Script Review

Having seen the similar themed teen Brit show Skins adopted for U.S. television recently only to bomb and be cancelled after poor ratings, how does MTV's remake of The Inbetweeners stand-up, on paper at least?

Bleeding Cool have got their naughty hands on scripts for MTV's U.S. remake of The Inbetweeners, the successful UK sitcom that revolves around A-level students Simon, Jay, Will and Joe as they struggle on the verge of manhood and to get laid, basically. It's not unlike a UK version of American Pie and after three highly popular seasons on E4, the Brit show hits the big screen in the UK next week with a movie version that takes our beloved characters to Magaluf! Having seen the similar themed teen Brit show Skins adopted for U.S. television recently only to bomb and be cancelled after poor ratings, how does MTV's remake of The Inbetweeners stand-up, on paper at least? Here's a few bullet points from BC's review; Unlike many U.S. remakes of UK shows, the characters and their names remain authentic with Simon, Jay, Will, Mr Gilbert, Carly, Charlotte, Donovan, all retained. The site got their hands on scripts for episodes 2, 3 and 4. Episode 2 is Sunshine Mountain (an almost shot for shot remake of the Thorpe Park episode of the UK show), Episode 3 is The Masters (involving a 'slave auction scene', ac character trying to ' fuck a jacuzzi and get their dick stuck for two hours' and Simon's now 'overachieving golfer and competitive dad' and Episode 4 is The Wrong Box (a brand new episode involving social media, and Will/Simon starting a cooking club to interest a new girl/Carly respectively) Simon stills has a yellow car! Overall Bleeding Cool's verdict;
it€™s filthy but not quite as imaginatively so as the UK version. That had language and turns of phrase that rivalled The Thick Of It, in the US, as noted, it€™s closer to territory already mined by American Pie. Which means it€™s just not going to come over in as original a fashion as the UK version. This version on the right is as strong as it gets... I mean, it€™s close, the structure is so similar, it just doesn€™t take that final leap into insanity But here€™s an appeal to the new cast, since these scripts are shooting right now, improvise filth. Throw in a few ad libs. The worst things you€™ve ever heard kids say. They may well make it to the screen€
