With 28 seasons and 604 episodes under its belt, The Simpsons is an institution and quite possibly the best show ever to grace our TV screens. Still, most fans of The Simpsons would agree that the show's best days are behind it.

With increasingly ridiculous and convoluted storylines and an over-reliance on celebrity guest stars, it's a widely accepted fact that the show has drastically declined in quality over the years. After all, it's hard to top classic episodes of television like 'Last Exit To Springfield' or 'Marge and the Monorail'.

Beyond the golden period of seasons 3 to 8 though, it often gets forgotten that The Simpsons writers can still knock out a modern day classic every now and again.

Here are 15 adventures from Springfield from the last decade that are well worth your time.

15. Any Given Sundance (Season 19, Episode 18)

"I never wanted to be famous for being mean. I wanted to be famous for catching Santa Claus" - Homer Simpson

The Simpsons' take on the independent film boom, as Lisa discovers she's a whiz with the camera. After Lisa realises she's very adept at capturing the beauty in the everyday life, the budding filmmaker makes a documentary about her family and Principal Skinner convinces her to submit it to the Sundance Film Festival.

There's just one problem; The Simpsons are a dysfunctional family to say the least, and one audience viewing leaves them being heckled and reviled. Besides being very funny, the episode succeeds in its clever satire of the fickles of fame and of how indie movies go from the talk of the town to yesterday's news in the blink of an eye.
