The Walking Dead 5.8 Review - 5 Talking Points From "Coda"

The mid-season has ended, and it was a heartbreaker.

That one hurt. We all knew it was coming. If The Walking Dead has taught us anything during its five seasons, it's that no one is safe. Well, no one except probably Rick and Daryl. And the show were due for one of the main characters to meet their demise, since the only person we've lost this season was Bob, and he was more of a peripheral member of the group rather than someone we've grown to know and love over the course of several years. For those who dabble in spoilers, several interviews with cast members gave the indication that someone was going to bite the bullet, but it felt like the fan-base were leaning toward Carol being the one to die, seeing as how her character arc has pretty much ran its course. So when Beth had her skull aired out by Dawn, it was a punch to the stomach that no one expected. For her entire run on the show, Beth has been somewhat of a shining light, a symbol of purity in an ugly world. She was a constant bit of optimism when none was warranted and became a sort of mascot for hope. Her smile and singing voice could always brighten a down moment, and her death is going to effect everyone heavily. It was a brutal way to end the mid-season and left viewers with mouths agape and aching over the loss. Let's get to the talking points.
