What does that death really mean for the show?

Contains spoilers from The Walking Dead Season 9, Episode 9.

After a lengthy hiatus, The Walking Dead returned to screens this past Sunday. The hit AMC series has been on a bit of a roll since commencing its ninth season back in October, and for the first time in years, the show has something new to offer, instead of the same repetitive storylines time and again.

Unfortunately, Adaptation didn't quite live up to the hype, and ultimately proved to be one of this season's weaker outings. Picking up from where the jaw-dropping mid-season finale left off, this instalment found Michonne, Daryl, Aaron and Eugene retrieving Jesus' dead body from the graveyard, as they headed back to Hilltop to break the tragic news to the other community members.

Much of Adaptation focused on Negan, after he escaped from his cage in the previous episode. Upon his arrival back at the Sanctuary, he came to a shocking realisation about his life and the way he's been leading it - which is hopefully a good sign for where the show is going in the future.

As mid-season premieres go, Adaptation was pretty uneventful. However, that's not to say that it didn't leave us with plenty of questions to mull over until next week, because it definitely did.

5. Will Michonne Attend The Fair?

The mainstays of The Walking Dead have always supported one another through thick and thin, but this season it's been a very different story. One of the most interesting things about the latest batch of episodes is the conflict that's developed between Michonne and several other members of the communities. Something has clearly gone down during the 6-year time-jump, but as of yet, we're not exactly sure what happened.

You'd think that the threat of The Whisperers - not to mention the loss of one of their own - would be enough to end this animosity and force them to align once more, but this just isn't the case - well, not yet anyway. During Adaptation, Michonne refused to stay a day longer at Hilltop - even though an extra day could've resulted in getting answers from Lydia.

With the tension still very much present among the group, it does beg the question if the sword-wielding warrior will show up at the highly-anticipated fair which is set to take place over at The Kingdom? Right now it's not looking likely, but with The Whisperers still taunting our survivors, this could well change by the time the fair rolls around.
