THE WALKING DEAD Season 1 Special Edition Blu-Ray Announced
AMC's zombie Western soap opera coming back with a Collector's Edition rerelease. And there's a special feature that fans of the comic are going to die for...
Personally speaking, I can't get enough of The Walking Dead - I'm now two episodes into my Retrospective Review series and loving revisiting it - so the news that Anchor Bay Entertainment is releasing a brand-new collector's edition of the first season on DVD and Blu-Ray is a huge draw. Unfortunately I am a shameless Special Edition magpie - add a new cover image and emblazon the words Ultimate Edition on it and I'm first in the queue to buy, no matter how many alternative editions I already own. As an indication my collection currently includes five versions of A Nightmare Before Christmas, and two almost identical releases of Philadelphia (because, obviously, one is a slight variant cover). It's an addiction. But it's not one I'm entirely ashamed of. So the promise of not only the new Special Edition DVD and Blu-ray versions, but also a Limited Edition Blu-ray Collectors Tin, which will all be released on October 4th inspires a zombie-like brain-hunger. Here's the new covers:
According to ShockTillYouDrop, all three versions include these all-new special features: Pilot Episode: The B&W Version Audio Commentaries On All 6 episodes We Are The Walking Dead Bring Out The Dead: KNB And The Art of Making Zombies Digital Decay: The VFX of The Walking Dead No More Room in Hell: The Walking Dead Phenomenon Adapting The Dead Killer Conversations: Frank Darabont & Greg Nicotero And each version will also include the original bonus features from the first The Walking Dead: Season 1 release, which looked a little something like this: The Making of The Walking Dead Inside The Walking Dead: Episodes 1 6 A Sneak Peek with Robert Kirkman Behind The Scenes Zombie Make-Up Tips Convention Panel with the Producers The Walking Dead Trailer Extra Footage includes: Zombie School Bicycle Girl On Set with Robert Kirkman Hanging with Steven Yeun Inside Dales RV On Set with Andrew Lincoln Ignoring for a minute the fact that some of those new extras - the commentaries for instance - should have been released in the original package, the idea of that black and white recut of the premiere is enough for me, and while there's no price yet kicking around, or even a concrete confirmation that UK retailers will be getting it (I'd wager so on that one), neither will be an obstacle to my acquisition of a tin copy. Just don't get in my way.
