23. The Big Bang Theory The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis (CBS, 2008)
Leonard befriends a colleague but is annoyed when he starts dating Penny. Meanwhile, Sheldon agonises over finding a Christmas present for Penny thats worth the same as whatever she is giving him. Ill be honest, the main attraction of this episode is the side-plot that sees Sheldons neuroses go into overdrive when choosing Pennys Christmas present. The Leonard and Penny plot is quite dull and just doesnt have the spark and creativity of Sheldon dealing with Christmas. Its that story that has the best dialogue, and situational and sight gags. Its almost entirely Sheldon-driven but Raj and Howard get some decent moments as well. Theres not much else to say than its traditional Big Bang Theory with a Christmas subplot in the mix. A solid effort, milking the situation for all its worth with great results.
