Rob Van Dam returned to WWE for the first time in six years at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view on July 14th, 2013. Receiving a thunderous ovation from the Philadelphia faithful, RVD looked as good as ever as he put on a hell of a show and took some gnarl bumps.

The next evening on Raw, Van Dam was matched up against an old foe when he was booked to go one-on-one with Chris Jericho. The veterans were the last contest of the evening and put forward a great effort in a 23-minute match that just built and built and built.

It wasn't always the prettiest match but there was lots of effort and the strikes and submissions were full-on. Van Dam had to dig deep into his arsenal of moves, at one point hitting a top rope front flip senton that he hadn't used in yonks. It only got a two count.

In the end, a bloodied and tired Van Dam was able to hit one last spin kick, dropping Jericho long enough to hit his Five Star and pick up a huge win. Not only was this just a great back-and-forth wrestling match, it also set RVD up for a great comeback run.
