It began with one of the all-time great title changes at ECW's One Night Stand 2006, and saw him make an impressive three defences - all in consecutive nights in June - before losing a triple threat the following month.

Its brevity owed to the fact that, during the intervening time, RVD was busted in real-life for driving around with some contraband substances in his glove compartment, for which he was duly suspended by his employers as per their wellness policy.

No complaints there, although you do perhaps question why WWE didn't allow him a run with the belt sooner. He was incredibly hot between 2002 and 2003, and Monday Night Raw was crying out for a baby-face to topple Triple H.
