Despite WWE’s own best efforts, John Cena is still the face of the company. If it were up to them, they'd have a successor ready to roll by now. Vince McMahon has done an admirable job of giving more screen time to Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, but none of them have caught on to the level that Cena has. It could be years before WWE truly finds a suitable replacement for him.
With that in mind, Cena should absolutely still command one of the big matches at WrestleMania. He’s one of the only wrestlers on the roster that truly feels specials, and can still be considered a draw. What WWE has to decide now is whether they want to keep pushing him as the biggest star they have, or use him to continue putting over other talent like A.J. Styles and Dean Ambrose. Maybe this is the point in his career where he’s just going to take part in dream matches like Hulk Hogan did during his last run.
WWE sold over 74,000 tickets for WrestleMania XXIV at Camping World Stadium, and you can be sure they’re going to want to break that number in a few months.
