10 Best WWE Hardcore Champions

9. Maven

All you really need to know about Maven and the Hardcore Championship is that he first won it in February 2002 by beating The Undertaker, or as he became known during this two-week period, The freakin' Undertaker.

This is because, in addition to being beaten by a Tough Enough rookie for his title, Big Evil was also dumped out of the Royal Rumble at his hands after a distraction from The Hardy Boyz, in what was perhaps the worst period of his entire career.

Needless to say, it was also the very best moment of Maven's career - one that, at the time, was expected by many to be the catalyst for a potential upper mid-card run - the sort of thing that could help establish him as more than a young guy who wore trunks with an MTV logo on them.

It didn't, but Maven did at least go on to enjoy a solid run in the Hardcore Championship scene, including the distinction of being the man who walked out of the WrestleMania X8 chaos - the title changed hands five times that night - with the belt around his waist.
