10 Disappointing WrestleMania Matches That Should Have Been Classics

Even wrestling's biggest ever stars can can stink the joint out on the grandest stage.

Nobody wants to disappoint at WrestleMania. You can under-perform on a house show, TV taping and even at a regular pay-per-view and expect to be chewed out for it. But at WrestleMania? Disappointing at WrestleMania, whilst obviously not good for the individual's ego, is tantamount to wrestling sin. This is the biggest show of the year, after all, the one that millions all over the world (and a stadium full of people) are paying to see. To have a match before an unresponsive crowd after months of hype has got to be a major blow. WWE wants everything to go off without a hitch on the biggest night of the year. But is it always the fault of the performers? Everyone would love to have that Savage/Steamboat or Michaels/Undertaker classic match for themselves, but the stars just don't align properly or they're expected to follow a match that does reach 'classic' heights or they're only given eighteen seconds. Regardless of the reasons, there have been some truly disappointing WrestleMania matches over the years that are made all the more disappointing because fans (and often the wrestler's themselves) had such high expectations for them. Everybody dreams of that 'WrestleMania moment' but sometimes they end up with moments they would rather forget.
