Well, at least it was a drastic improvement from the previous year's 325,000 buys. As WrestleMania gets bigger and bigger each year, and SummerSlam and the Royal Rumble maintain their relevance as tentpole events, Survivor Series has gone the other way. Other than satiating fans of the original concept with classic elimination matches, the novelty of the show simply no longer exists.

Survivor Series 2005 did 400,000 buys, which is highly impressive when one looks at the history of the event - only seven other Survivor Series' have done as many or more buys, and it was a mere 78,000 buys from tying the overall event record.

The drop-off going forward would prove staggering, however. Future events bearing the name would have far less return on interest.
